Australia: Lockdowns and Location Apps | Jordan Peterson and John Anderson | #REPOST

In this selection of highlights from a recent interview, John speaks with Dr. Jordan B. Peterson on his podcast. Peterson is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Toronto, clinical psychologist, public speaker, and best-selling author.

They discuss the Australian lockdowns and the arrogation of increased government powers in light of COVID-19. They also discuss how politicians have shifted the responsibility of COVID-19 management and policy to a newly-established medical elite.

Finally, they contemplate the short and long-term consequences of heavy-handed government, including the legitimacy of lockdowns, introduction of vaccine mandates, and the normalisation of community surveillance.

Conversations feature John Anderson, former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, interviewing the world’s foremost thought leaders about today’s pressing social, cultural and political issues.

John believes proper, robust dialogue is necessary if we are to maintain our social strength and cohesion. As he puts it; “You cannot get good public policy out of a bad public debate.”

  1. Great discussion and as an Aussie I will be listening to more of what you have to say. Thank you.
I hope you can convince Aussie political figures to embark on these kind of discussions so that we can properly understand the decisions they are coming to, because from the outside looking in it doesn’t look good.

  2. Vaccination against terrible diseases is appreciated in Australia for infants – whooping cough, polio, diphtheria, etc. These rules have reduced infant mortality and been accepted by the vast majority of parents.
But Covid 19 is a new disease whose effects and treatment are still being understood. Brain injury from motorcycle accidents was new in the last century. Adults had to respond to that new and unknown reality. Safety helmets changed from optional for racers to compulsory for all. The same applies to safety belts in cars and planes.
People, who refuse to comply with social norms, should not expect the rest of society to pay for the results of their rebellious choices.
States and individuals have tried to find their way through the new epidemic maze and they have taken different routes. But individuals and states will learn to handle themselves better for the next epidemic.
All of us need to remember in traumatic experiences that we were not promised risk-free life.
How should I live so that more people will be encouraged and enabled to live like Jesus in this vale of tears and soul-making? Innocent people need to be rescued if possible. and the rebellious need to be controlled so as to prevent other people from suffering.

  3. These 2 men make me realise just how dim witted I am. Here we are with no faith or trust in our politicians, our doctors, scientists, experts, authorities and media and I'm stunned at the idea that this trust could ever be rebuilt. My basis for this is the old saying "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.".

  4. Stealing from our children so the elitists in our midst can maintain their standard of living and security will have an implication. When the younger generation become the future governments why should they give the older generation anything. Particularly if there becomes a time of austerity

  5. “The problem with Australians is not that so many of them are descended from convicts, but that so many of them are descended from prison officers.” Clive James

  6. I'm surprised Jordan has been so meek and mild about the current situation despite his preference for remaining calm as much as possible. I would urge Jordan and John to speak with PANDA'S Nick Hudson for an eye opening discussion.

  7. Ho BUT THE children WILL PROSPER !WHEN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM RETURNS TO NORMALITY AND ITS COMING! THE YOUNG GENERATION WILL HAVE TAKEN MOST OF THESE CURUPT POLITICIANS AND CORPORATIONS TRILLIONS AWAY FROM THEM? (IT WON'T BE A OPTION) THERS NO NEED FOR ONE %OF THE PLANET HAVING THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY! HUMANITY NEEDS THIS AND CAN IN THE RIGHT HANDS BENEFIT ALL OF HUMANITY? NOT HOLLYWOOD AND FAMOUS PEOPLE MUSIC BUISNES SPORTS ALL THESE FAMOUS PEOPLE HAVE TRYED TO BRAINWASH THE PEOPLE INTO GIVING UP THER FREEDOM! YET EVREY SINGLE ONE OF THEM STILL LIVE LIKE COVIDE DUSANT EXSIST FLYING AROUND THE WORLD WHEN EVER IT TAKES! PREACHING WHAT THAY DON'T PRACTISE!?.

  8. At the daily press conferences with the imperative of getting people to take the JAB, the speakers make a point of telling the public how many UNVAXXED are in ICU and on a respirator. The figures given may be true but it wouldn't be too hard to rig that situation so that the UNVAXXED are the greatest in numbers. You can have people in ICU whether they really need to be there or not. Why should we trust these government people?

  9. Great idea for politicians to tell as what they are about on a pod cast. 45sec on a news clip tells us nothing. A pod cast could help explain policies etc.

The other thing id like to see in Australia is a stronger constitution thats taught in schools and number 1 is free speech and the right to peacefully protest.

  10. This is what I learned:

A very important characteristic of a functioning liberal democracy is the maintenance of environments to support inclusive comprehensive debates. Inclusive comprehensive debates lead to better policy. The environment for the practice of democracy is being degraded (“the jungle encroaches on our Democratic garden”). We (presumably everyone committed to participating in a liberal democracy) have not paid attention to weeding the garden.

These messages from Mr Anderson have much wider implications than ‘just’ our response to Covid.

  11. I dont believe this is about a virus, not now. Yes there will be levels of incompetence, but the dog in the street can see that politicians are not calling the shots here. Unelected groups have bought them, positioned them and are directing them without public consent. At least not informed consent, but like both speakers say the people have waived responsibility after having freedom handed to them on a plate.

  12. Docs here in US have formed an underground railroad of sorts for early off label treatments which work, btw. Natural immunity is ignored by the mandates. Depleting the US work force voluntarily, as protest to mandates, I hope will break these tyrants. Watching valiant world protest marches and cheering!

  13. The problem is the government "experts" not only refuse to debate but actively de-platform actual experts who have opposing opinions. This isn't a conspiracy theory it is a conspiracy.

  14. bored now… they are not vaccines, they are therapeutics… Fauci/NIH/ Wuhan will come out… and of course Merck's refusal to carry out Nobel winner Satoshi's request to study IVRMCTN

  15. In terms of National debt, Ireland is giving Australia a run for its money. With hundreds of thousands of job losses and careers destroyed in the private sector, the Irish government has given billions in increase salaries and benefits to public sector employees. The national debt has had tens of billions added to be paid for by future generations.

  16. Very interesting talk. In the UK I'm pretty sure that no costs/benefits analysis was done.
But western societies seem, to me, to have decided that death, of anything, is unacceptable.

  17. I am sorry, but an argument for increased confidemce in the medical establishment cannot be made in the same breath with doubting their decision to stop the use of the Astrozeneca vaccine. Even if, for the sake of the argument, ww accept that it was a political decision, the integrity of those scientists remains forever compromised.

  18. Thanks for sharing this conversation with us, finally a focused adult presentation of the basic principles of our current problems. I appreciate you guys having a old school intellectual kinda of front porch sitting and talking approach regular folks can understand. More please.

  19. When Dr. Peterson hypothesized about the relation between government and the citizen ("we are not doing this to you…"), he implies a hypothetical discussion with an individual, and not with a mob brought into a frenzy by a never ending scaremongering campaign. The extinction of individual rights always comes down to either approval or at least acquiescence by the majoroty. I feel that you both danced around thar fact without facing it head on.
