Written by Karlyn Borysenko

The focus of my life since 2012 was to bring sanity back to the work environment, because I believe we spend so much time at work that we shouldn’t be miserable. I have an MBA and a PhD in psychology, specializing in industrial/organizational psychology. I have my own practice - Zen Workplace - where I integrate organizational psychology and positive psychology with mindfulness techniques to help make work better. I’m also the Chief Science Officer of RallyBright, where I work to build high-performing, resilient teams. But that’s not how most people know me. Most people know me as a (now former) Democrat of 20 years who went to a Trump rally. The article I wrote about my experience went viral and garnered 3 million views in the first week. I was featured by Fox News, Glenn Beck, Dennis Prager, and on dozens of radio shows, podcasts, and YouTube videos.

Comments

  1. Tbh the lowercase I didn’t bother me because it made i’s seem less valued; I was bothered because it didn’t match the rest of the graphic. Good video as always!

  2. Can you please make a video about how to deal with short, fat, narcissistic managers who use infinite micro management to the point where they even dislike how an employee walks? I want to perforate my boss. Help!

  3. Why does it take 17 series to debunk something that sane people already knows to be false to begin with? Why debunk it to the mentally ill? They aren't competent to begin with.

  4. Given that the D and I workstyles are primarily leadership type workstyles and the C and S are primarily support type workstyles, it sounds like the people writing this nonsense assume that minorities are inherently only good for support roles and not leadership roles. But they want to be given leadership responsibilities, which would destroy the organization. Their racism and stupidity are showing.

  5. your subtitles have gone screwy! they show up in korean and the translation is all levels of weird. i've been watching your show for a long time and never had this problem til now. just giving you a head's up! 🙂
keep up the good work 🙂
(Edit) no seriously you need to see it NOW cause it looks like someone overseas is trying to sell off your video sans-audio, like sex trafficking-level creep factor. i'm considering taking notes cause this stuff is scary.

  7. three parts the first day and just one part today? this is worse than waiting to find out who shot jr.
edit: after watching the video i'm worried that this comment is a product of white supremacy.

  8. I worked with a native entrepreneurial medical doctor who was a classic trump, a DDD,, trump is just an orange daisie. He would race you across town to the other practice. Year on 100% turn over of staff, staff would resign the day after they got paid. That's about 1% of it.

  9. My experience is that the C and particularly S folks create analysis paralysis every time they are leads. The primary role of the D is to cut through this and create movement. The S folks = failure unless competent leaders pull them. The angst they feel is a work aversion being kicked from them. Each work style plays a role. Decision making is not one for C and S. Too bad.

  10. Great series. Really learning a lot about my work style and gaining insight into the work style of others that I work with. Great stuff. Does this model extend into how we "show up outside of the workplace" ? Looking forward to the next in the series – let's keep going!

  11. It seems this pamphlet’s suggestion is that the S’s be put in charge. Based on your description, I think I’m a hard, hard S type. Put an S in charge. That is a TERRIBLE IDEA. When left on my own, I stew in my introspections and study metaphysical philosophical rabbits holes about the nature of love and human connection. Literally the only reason I get up in the morning is if there’s someone who needs me to wake up at 9 rather than 1pm. I actually appreciate when someone makes a fucking decision and just tells me directly what they want me to do and why it’s important that I do it; cause once the decision is made and I’m convinced it will be of service to someone, I’ll haul mountains and brave a hurricane to get it done. But when it’s just me and myself put at stake without others to answer to, I physically struggle to stay awake. I know I need to do more work and strengthen my assertiveness muscles; this pamphlet is useless to me; I don’t want people to be nicer to me; I want to be held accountable and be criticized when I fall short because it’s the only way I know to adjust my workflow. A protective bubble is what I grew up in, and growing up in that bubble is what fucked me up. I’ll take the heat even if I have to fight every cell of my body to do it. I want to get shit done.

  12. Karylyn Borsenko- needs to come to Indiana- a Republican controlled state- please look up the term sundown town- do some history research on Indiana towns notably the Southern half of the state- please look up gerrymandering- please by all means visit any factory in southern Indiana- and tell us what you find- just because Corporate policy states you can't display or openly discuss Supremacy ideology in front of Human Resource managers doesnt mean it isn't practiced in a passive-aggressive manor. Segregationist practices are in play in the factories and in the real estate market… it actually exist all over the country in towns that heavily depend on manufacturing factories to generate tax revenue, just because the Nazi or Confederate flag isn't flying doesn't mean segregationist practices aren't taking place- political science majors need practical experience in the manufacturing environment- these Economist are lost- the people driving the political scene are lost… "deplorable" would be the word to aptly describe today's Economist

  13. So did they just take someone's work style analysis and slap the label of white supremacy on it? It seems so lazy! They don't even mention race in any of this and don't provide any evidence of how this stuff is connected to race in any way. The title provides a certain lens and then everyone just has to fill in the picture from their own imagination.

  14. Absolutely no one:

Me: I avoided unconscious bias training at work because my workplace is crawling with SJWs and I'm trying to avoid all their SJW related things.

Also me: Watches four parts of a work training programme in my spare time.

    Wait a second…

    Karlyn tricked me!

  15. the reason why the 'i' in the DiSK model is not capitalised is because people would otherwise mistake it for the non-capitalised 'L'. Look, I will prove it to you:
    capitalised 'i': I
    non-capitalised 'L': l
    See? Looks totally the same.
This is why, at least here in the Netherlands, postcodes NEVER have a capitalised 'i', nor do housenumbers. Same goes for the capital 'o', because that could be confused with a zero. In case everybody goes, "Huh?!', appartmentbuildings, flats if you will, especially new ones which are build in the place of a former site which already had housenumbers, will often have a letter as a suffix as a distinction. Housenumbers 527 to 527-L means that there are 17 flats on that gallery/level from numbers '527'm '527-A', '527-B', etc., all the way to '527-L'. Seventeen because there is no 527-I. Because if people were to read that, they would think it said 527-L, and if they were then to mail to that adress, things would go horribly wrong.
Believe me, there has been some heavy thoughts about these things on an international level, together with things like the Dewey decimal code for libraries and such.
(I worked for nearly twenty years in archives and during my student years I had a parttime job delivering mail – I know all kinds of weird but wonderful things about how street directories are alfabetised and such, which wouldn't interest you in the least, unless you're a bit of a weird nerd like me)

  16. their bullet points are way more about general bad work environments. not race. I'm a business major and we go through tons of material about effective leadership. so they just probably have a highly bureaucratic and autocratic work system.

  17. This series is being suppressed. Notifications don't work even if you have "All" turn on. This is the same kind of suppression I get with Styxhexenhammer. Congratz, Youtube thinks you are a Nazi now. How do you feel? XD

  18. I know you are incredibly busy but I hope you will be able to get back to finish this series. I'm hoping to use it for my daughter in college. While she has a very good head on her shoulders it can still be overwhelming
