It seems that the EU is about to concede that they will never be able to force us back under the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice.
There is talk that the EU chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, has now realised that demanding the UK stay under ECJ jurisdiction just will not fly.
According to Tony Connelly, Europe editor of the Irish broadcaster RTE, the EU27 leaders are getting ready to compromise on that – so far – red line of theirs.
Talking on RTE’s Brexit Republic podcast, Tony Connelly said that Michel Barnier has said both privately and now publicly, that he understands the UK’s red lines.
And that Boris Johnson had spelled those red lines out in the high-level conference, which meant no role for the ECJ in the UK and that things have to feel and look different in the realm of fisheries.
