if a burger joint has to sell 1000 burgers a week to pay costs and due to less discretionery spending, they only sell 500 burgers.
Burgers then increase by 100% just to pay the business costs……inflation or inefficiency?

Of course it is…the inflation is not because of spending.
Costco is cheaper for specific products. If you want say Coca Cola or a specific cleaning product, etc.
If you want something generic, Aldi is cheaper.
Will say the meat at Costco is fantastic though, but it's not cheap, because it's good quality.
If only Aldi cheap groceries was available to us up in North Qld.
If only we could choose energy providers also in North Qld as we have had 2 power outage notices from Ergon Energy in Townsville over the past 2 months but have not lost power at all.

Pretty sure inflation on building materials went up much more than 7%
I had a discussion with my bank lender yesterday , she was busy doing re finances and NOT loans. Also anecdotally mentioned that people are not tailoring their spending habits and continue to splurge.
Hyperinflation started very slowly from march 2020.
7.3%, surely you jest, real figure is more like 21%, money just rolling in to government coffers by the truck full!
