Kim Iversen: Pfizer’s Paxlovid Covid REBOUND Problem Is Confusing Scientists

Kim Iversen reacts to Stephen Colbert’s Covid diagnosis.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an EUA for the emergency use of Paxlovid for the treatment of mild-to-moderate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in adults and pediatric patients with positive results of direct severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) viral testing, and who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death.

The 5-day treatment course of PAXLOVID should be initiated as soon as possible after a diagnosis of COVID-19 has been made, and within 5 days of symptom onset. Should a patient require hospitalization due to severe or critical COVID-19 after starting treatment with PAXLOVID, the patient should complete the full 5-day treatment course per the healthcare provider’s discretion.

According to clinical trial data, Paxlovid had an 89% reduction in the risk of hospitalization and death.

The CDC says the risk for covid increases steadily as you age, and it’s not just those over the age of 65 who are at increased risk for severe illness. The CDC says A person is fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving all recommended doses in the primary series of their COVID-19 vaccination. A person is up to date with their COVID-19 vaccination if they have received all recommended doses in the primary series and one booster when eligible. Getting a second booster is not necessary to be considered up to date at this time.

According to the CDC people who were unvaccinated and did not have prior COVID-19 infection remain at the highest risk of infection and hospitalization. Those who were previously infected, both with or without prior vaccination, had the greatest protection. Additionally, a study by The Cleveland Clinic found that both previous infection and vaccination provide substantial protection against COVID-19. Vaccination of previously infected individuals does not provide additional protection against COVID-19 for several months, but after that provides significant protection at least against symptomatic COVID-19.

The CDC says layered prevention strategies — like staying up to date on vaccines and wearing masks — can help prevent severe illness and reduce the potential for strain on the healthcare system. Everyone ages 2 years and older should properly wear a well-fitting mask indoors in public in areas where the COVID-19 Community Level is high, regardless of vaccination status.

According to Pfizer and the CDC, potential side effects from the vaccine include pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site. Other side effects could include tiredness, headache, muscle pain, fever, chills, and nausea. In rare cases, people have experienced serious health events after the COVID-19 vaccination. Any health problem that happens after vaccination is considered an adverse event.

According to the CDC: Although the overall risks are low, if you are pregnant or were recently pregnant, you are more likely to get very sick from COVID-19 compared to people who are not pregnant. Evidence continues to build showing that COVID-19 vaccination before and during pregnancy is safe and effective. It suggests that the benefits of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine outweigh any known or potential risks of vaccination during pregnancy. COVID-19 vaccines cannot cause COVID-19 infection in anyone, including the mother or the baby. None of the COVID-19 vaccines contain live virus. Vaccines are effective at preventing COVID-19 in people who are breastfeeding. Recent reports have shown that breastfeeding people who have received mRNA COVID-19 vaccines have antibodies in their breastmilk, which could help protect their babies. More data are needed to determine what level of protection these antibodies may provide to the baby. There is currently no evidence that any vaccines, including COVID-19 vaccines, cause fertility problems (problems trying to get pregnant) in women or men.

  1. I had 2 Pfizer jabs and a Moderna booster 6 months ago. Still got a real flu like Covid virus in April. I don’t think Omicron is a big threat on its own right now except for the seriously ill or those that are seriously compromised. People I know that were vaccinated with boosters had basically the same symptoms as those who weren’t vaccinated. My 3 and 4 yr ild grands had the virus and had bad cold symptoms for about 10 days. I assume NYC will require the vaccine for toddlers which really scares me. We have no idea what the virus is or really if it is an actual virus. Maybe something else happened in a lab and this whole thing is a ruse. I trust my government so little that I wouldn’t put it past them to do this. I’m a Democrat but I don’t trust our government – either party – to lie or obfuscate the whole thing. Really sad situation. Also the boosters weren’t reworked for Omicron – so really – what a scam!

  2. Judging others does not define them – it defines you.
You want to wear a mask – wear one. You want a shot or two or more – get it. You want that freedom – let others have theirs. This whole thing is all about taking CONTROL away from "The People".

  3. Maybe it's because, UNLIKE Ivermectin (which inhibits covid19 replication through 5 mechanisms, and has an exceptionally long half-life), Paxlovid only inhibits one replication mechanism and is probably short lived. PLUS, Ritonavir causes the virus to go DORMANT, so one can test negative even if the virus is still present. Once Ritonavir is discontinued, the dormant virus is able to start replicating again, because there is no residual replication inhibitor left in the system. They should split the drug combination up into two prescriptions given concurrently, and then continue with the inhibitor for a few days longer than Ritonavir. OR they can just use Ivermectin as the inhibitor. It's not likely to happen, though; because Ivermectin costs approximately 70 cents per dose, as opposed to $700 per dose for Paxlovid.

  4. What’s missing here is that DOCTORS are in charge of prescriptions…so it’s not that patients have lost rights to medications they may want, but DOCTORS have lost their rights to prescribe generic FDA-approved drugs off-label because most work for hospital systems who do what pharmaceutical companies want because they get paid by them for participating in expensive drug trials. Independent doctors outside pharma company control have become more rare because of changes to law brought about with the Affordable Care Act.

Put simply, everything is controlled by the financial & pharma industries, and it’s done to create further monopoly power so that they make even more money than they already extort for healthcare. It’s pure extortion, and the government, medical boards, and hospital systems are all supporting it because the money is so good for them too. The healthcare industry in America is about money first, control second, and patient health may not even be in the top 5.

  5. Dunno how anyone knows "it could have been worse if they were unvaccinated"

The new variants have been less severe as time has gone on and different folks get it differently. Sounds like a self-soothing statement and nothing more.

  6. By the time they admit the risk of the vaccine it will be too late. There are tons of people who have had serious dangerous side effects from the vaccine, and even treatments. Many probably did not even get the full warning about any treatment they were given.
The government and those who work for them (or are paid off by them) will never tell us the full truth, and will always put money in there pockets first.
If my job forces me to take a second booster before a year goes by, I will gladly walk right out the door. They can deal with zero warning I am leaving. If they want me to stay they can just test me weekly. At this point I’d rather pay for my rapid test weekly then risk another booster, which is NOT even helpful against the new variants.

  7. I have no mRNA in me. 61 yo. Got covid, lasted 3 days and then got better within a total of 6 days. I am constantly surrounded by vaxxed people. They are often sick, have gained weight, and have weird things going on. mRNA is not the cure. I am astounded at the stupidity of supposed intelligent people. Just follow the money.
