If you play back his comments in context you will realize this, but the media took his comments out of context because it was the best way to attack Trump.

All my family had covid , Everyone was fine after 4 days I was staying with them at the time and never caught it but all 3 of my brother and my parents did . so far I have had one family memeber die of covid but she also was 200 pounds and had just given birth 5 days prior . but everyone else in my extended family that had covid was fine after a few days only 2 were hospitalized but they are also overweight and have breathing problems as it is . Ive been living my regular life since the shut down I know sooner or later I will get covid , We all are cdc said so themselves even if your vaxx .

When you fire (or threaten to fire) someone opposed to getting the vaccines whatever their reasons might be, you not only piss them off and likely make them politically engaged against your cause (possibly for life) you also piss off their entire family and friends network which will make them reconsider their political alignment and look real hard at the people they are voting for and what they are doing. That doesn't even take into account what it will do to the economy if several million people are dumped on the streets without unemployment during what is historically the worst performing quarter of the year, let alone how it will further disrupt the supply chain and hamper the production of 'essential' services. Not only will they not be working or earning (or paying taxes), but their immmediate family and support networks will need to be spending a considerable amount of their own disposable income on helping them out with food and the other basics of life, since the government decided to refuse them unemployment and support services while they look for employent with smaller companies at likely lower wages, instead of spending that money as they would be otherwise. Someone in Washingotn needs to wake up and take a good long look about what the actual results of this policy will be.
