  1. Mass migration , free money , leads to house shortage , leads to higher building costs . It doesn't help when governments are still trying to push home building with part government ownership .

  2. Do not, I repeat do not let the government a.k.a. bankers, 40% ownership of your new home. That is the beginning of you will own nothing and be happy. Same thing with banks are starting to call in loans on cars at homes and repossessing them. if you have an expensive car that you’re paying off, sell it now

  3. Big builder selling its display home WARNING , if it was normal did they list 56 homes on the one day last year or the year before ? You can smell desperation , you wonder how much money is already borrowed against these $56 million of property ? Maybe, just maybe their financial bakers may be tapping them on the shoulder and " suggesting " it would be a good idea to sell them ( before we repo them and sell them ) ..

  4. 4000 homes under construction.
The sale of 65 homes might not be enough to save the company.
4000 homes could be 80 to 120 million in unexpected costs above the contract prices.

  5. Wow this place is full of optimists! Builders and the economy is absolutely stuffed and if you aren’t calling crash now, you NEVER will. I personally cannot see any chance of a soft landing.

  6. Wtf did anyone go into a new home during or after a pandemic. Any home buyer during this time deserves what they get.

I cannot believe someone would sign a building contract with metricon.

    The last 56?

  7. Maybe they are selling and cashing out before the alleged short cuts get to much publicity. Who wants to buy from a builder who takes shortcuts that they are accused of?

  8. If they cashout the homes that are just collecting dust they Capitalise on the high markets and can manage/offset against losses suffered now.

    Seems financially smart tbh

  9. I bet the slash jobs and stay open may be in target areas if the can salvage it.
Biggest issue is getting through current projects that could still sink them .
Look at our airports it's a mess and that's a controlled environment so imagine the building industry .

  10. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
hopefully this also helps the well overdue crash to come even faster…😯

ah yes… real estate agents… probally the most USELESS job in the country

  11. This is what you get when you turn to government contracts to prop up your business. Government's will screw you to the bone and that's what has happened to Metricon.
