A number of demonstrators gathered to protest the implementation of stricter COVID-19 restriction measures in The Hague on Saturday.
Protests come after the Dutch government decided to bolster current measures and lock down all non-essential business from Sunday until January 14th. Schools will remain shut until at least January 9.
In the face of these new measures, surrounded by police vans, groups of demonstrators protested in the area of the ministries against what they consider to be a curtailment of their rights as citizens.
Eighty-five percent of the Dutch adult population is vaccinated against COVID-19 whilst less than 9 percent have received their booster shot. The nation recorded 14,616 new infections on Saturday.
