Post covid brain disorders

42%increased chance of developing a neuro problem after covid, equating to 7% of those infected.

Dr. Al-Aly

Overall, COVID-19 has contributed to more than 40 million new cases of neurological disorders worldwide

Comprehensive evaluation of postacute neurologic sequelae at 1 year

National healthcare databases of the US Department of Veterans Affairs

Covid cohort = 154,068

(nonhospitalized, hospitalized and admitted to intensive care)

Contemporary controls = 5,638,795

Historical controls = 5,859,621 (2017 data)

Average age of 61

Estimate risks and burdens of incident neurologic disorders at 12 months following acute SARS-CoV-2 infection

Longitudinal observational study design

March 2020 through January 2021

(predates delta, omicron and other COVID variants)

Results

In the postacute phase of COVID-19, there was increased risk of an array of incident neurologic sequelae

Ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke

TIA

Cognition and memory disorders

Peripheral nervous system disorders

Episodic disorders (e.g. migraine, seizures)

Extrapyramidal and movement disorders

Mental health disorders, (anxiety depression psychosis)

Musculoskeletal disorders

Sensory disorders

Guillain–Barré syndrome

Encephalitis or encephalopathy

Headaches

Hazard ratio of any neurologic sequela

1.42 (1.38 to 1.47)

Burden

70.69 (63.54 to 78.01) per 1,000 persons at 12 months

Or, 7.069%

The risks and burdens were elevated even in people who did not require hospitalization during acute COVID-19

Risks and burdens increased according to the severity of the acute infection,

from nonhospitalized to hospitalized to intensive care

Dizzynes

Taken together, our results provide evidence of increased risk of long-term neurologic disorders in people who had COVID-19.

  1. Post viral fatigue (and the associated issues such as neuro problems) needs to be taken seriously. Will this now be the final wake up call? ME/CFS patients and scientists have been trying to tell the medical profession about these problem for decades but they have been ignored. This needs to change, now. If ME/CFS patients had been listened to properly years ago we could have treatments for post viral fatigue and associated neuro problems which could also help long covid patients.

  2. This is the second pandemic, with secondary effects of the COVID infections. Post covid is sadly under reported and needs to be talked about more.

SARS COVID has many long-term effects that will either kill or disable people and it's not helpful that many people keep being reinfected with covid.

It's going to be interesting to follow up how the various brain problems will effect the work force, for instance drivers of machinery, drivers in generals and pilots etc. Accidents will definitely increase!

The mental health problems are also a concern in many professions: especially within the medical professions will be a problem

It seems all the covid strains have the same post covid effects. No variation there..

I will read this paper properly and hopefully many others will do it too. This is becoming a societal problem that will be deliberating for a long time to come. I especially feel for the younger generation who will have to deal with the post covid health effects already at a young age. It's a bleak future ahead of them…

It's truly sad that people are ignoring these problems and are being told covid is no worse than a flu… when it's actually the post covid symptoms we need to worry about.

  3. This designed weapon of war is working perfectly as it was designed for. As time goes by there will be more and more issues just like this – none of it will be respected or even noticed by government and probably your neighbour also – because you will be told your an idiot and shut off – just like the un-vaxed during the pandemic did. No wonder youtube doesnt shut you down for talking about like they threatened when the pandemic was on !! hahaha

  4. I find people who got the 2 dose of vaccine ,also got a weird brain disorder. They are often angry,no patience at all,and denie everything, even is something obivious. They think they smarter than the unjabbed, you can not argue with them. The whole world is changed.By the way i had one shot from Astra zeneca so im 1/2 jabbed so am not an unvaxxed “flat earther”.

  6. I had it too.Delta in Oktober 21. Struggled 5 Month with breathproblems. In the Restphase at Night, i could feel my Heartbeat, i couldnt sleep at all.
In june 22 i catched omicron. 1 Day fever and a runny nose. That was all.
I started with Breathmeditation and i take Ginseng included B12 and Vitamin A.
Now everything is gone. Heartbeat is normal, also my fitness and breathing. Good Luck Everyone.

  7. Can you do a video on any research you have come across to help with the brain fog etc. Did you know they are thinking it's mirco blood clots in the brain? Just need help to function 🙁

  8. A boy aged 16, developed hydrocephalus less than 10 days after getting the vaccine. Upon questioning the doctor, he inferred the boy got it because he had meningitis when he was two. Any ideas?

  9. Yes but have these people been vaccinated? I feel like the numbers on neurological issues should compare cases found in vaccinated people who've has covid vs unvaccinated people who've had covid.

  10. For anyone who reads this message, I pray and hope that your tomorrow is better than today. There is hope and just know that you have people out there who love you,

  11. If the vaccine showed any level of protection against these disorders, it would be published in good clean data. But it's not, that's because it either does nothing or most likely contributing to these fatal outcomes. I had DELTA, then got fully vaccinated then caught OMICRON. And I would choose the catching the virus over the vaccine side effects every time.

  12. I’ve have had neurological issues so can’t be sure, but my eye inflammation ( uveitis ) suddenly came back few hours after the second Pfizer vaccination and my eye inflammation ( uveitis) keeps coming back ever since my second Pfizer vaccination, my autoimmune disorder that was dormant for years has become a big big problem and now I must consider going on biologics such as Humira which tampers down the immune system , but I am so scared of the really scary side effects of the Biologics therapy especially with the current situation with the virus , I was offered the Biologics years ago but my eye inflammation was not so bad then I used to get uveitis every 4 years or so but ever since my second jab it’s happening every six months or so! Very frustrating.

  13. I've seen lots of comments discussing how the vaccinated can (& are) infecting those who are not with so called 'shedding' of spike proteins, I think this warrants an investigation & would be very grateful if you could perhaps cover this specific topic sometime soon?

Keep up the great work as ever…

  14. I am fighting the diagnosis of Long Covid but 6 months after the initial infection,I continue to have brain fog, fatigue and muscle pain. Interestingly enough all the symptoms of Long Covid according to the NHS website are exactly the same as symptoms of pernicious anaemia(which I was diagnosed with in 2007).
