Hi, I'm SFO, and on this channel I make political and philosophical content. There's a lot wrong with the world at the moment, and I don't really have any way to affect political change other than making videos on pertinent topics, so I'll do what I can. My political position is a liberal centrist - I believe that free western capitalist democracy is the best political system we have, and that it's under attack from all sides, from SJWs, from religious extremism, from radical feminism, from identitarianism, from both progressivism and regressivism, from extremism from both ends of the political spectrum. If you're expecting me to either be alt-right, or side with social justice, you're going to be very disappointed.

  1. As someone who as been around the web for a very long time, I am 100% convinced that the lunacy plaguing western culture today is solely caused by Tumblr and its userbase, specifically before the NSFW ban. The correlation is stunning – it all roots back to that website.

  2. Give it 10 years, and whoever ends up replacing you will end up talking about how cat fae pronouns are valid and why the new shit is not valid.

  3. Yea, the people that use xenopronouns or whatever they’re called, also like to call themselves trans too. Which uhhh ain’t a good thing

  4. The funniest part about all of this is that you don't even generally use pronouns that much when talking to someone directly. These people have developed an entire Tolkien-complexity-level lore over shit that will rarely even come up unless people are talking about them when they aren't even present.

  5. I don’t have pronouns. And you don’t have pronouns, either. Pronouns don’t belong to anyone. Words aren't something that belong to you, they aren’t something that you can hoard. Taking a page from Matt Walsh here, the adjectives “talented” and “loveable” don’t belong to me, they’re words people use to describe me by their own volition. I can’t force people to describe me as that and only that.
At best, pronouns are descriptor words. They do make sentences easier to manage when it comes to having to say names all the time, but they’re still descriptor words. Especially in gendered languages, like Spanish and french. Is it feminine? Or is it masculine? You could say it looks androgynous, but then again, for people there’s always a base sex to go by (plus in my opinion, “androgynous” still looks feminine to me). I’ve been called androgynous before, and I am very much a girl. I have the feminine face, the pipsqueak voice, and the body. The only time I’ve been called “sir” is because I was wearing non-feminine clothes and they saw me in a glance or was wearing a mask. If you look at all of these “trans” people, you can tell what they are. If you look at all of these people on tic toc, you can tell they’re all girls because of the feminine face, and the voice. The default is “girl”. It’s what everyone automatically goes to. You have to work really hard to not say it. Trans guys nearly always have a baby face, and trans girls nearly always look masuline to some degree. Unless they figure out a way to successfully pass, then they actually get the luxury of getting called the pronouns they want to be described with, since they look the part, they sound the part, the default is the pronoun they pass as. Which is fine. Trying to purposefully “misgender”, or in this case, describe them using their biological sex, would only lead to confusion and annoyance for everyone. We all tend to take the easy way out, and just calling people pronouns that you think physically describes them best is the easiest. And sometimes, it’s for the best. I’m tired of having to wrap my head around calling girls boys and boys girls or have to check the nonexistent “other” box when my brain says “that’s clearly wrong”.

  6. I will refer to you by any of he/she/they/it you so choose, but I will also accept one more in case you feel offended by all of the former. The noun-self pronoun 'clown'.
    Clown walked clown's dog today.

  7. 1:53 I am, and yeah, it's pretty fucking sad. I generally stay away from this culture, both on the tumblr end and that of the people criticizing it, since it's probably best to just live my life, but every once in a while I can't help clicking on a video like this.

The truth is, I'm not embarrassed about these people, because I feel no kinship with them. If I have a real emotional reaction to it, it's a slight anger- being trans exacerbates imposter syndrome to a ridiculous degree, and people like this devaluing what is already a seriously overly discussed, hot button identity pisses me off. These kids have no IDEA what it's like to be really trans- and I got pretty lucky, all things considered. I'm not meaty, I don't have a ton of natural body hair, a pronounced chin, or anything super noticeable, but even for me, it's a constant aching presence in my life. Being trans is like having a splinter in your thumb for your entire life and not even knowing it wasn't supposed to be there. Then, you come out, and it's like having it removed, but the hurt doesn't go away. And when people see you walking down the street, they see the giant… scar? In your thumb? And you're like… uh… "oh no, everyone's going to know I had a splinter" and this metaphor might be breaking down on me a bit.

  8. Those points on trust is 💯% what makes all the pronouns and genders pointless and ineffective. They have forgotten their humanity and simple communication. Sad.
