Yes because switching back to your currency would be extremely difficult and it would also cause rising prices and other issues, having the euro is good because you can use it in so many countries now.

The real question is why the 47 % wants to stay
If the UK gets Brexit right then others may follow, but any such manoeuvres will need to be transitioned carefully. The UK could lead the way to rewrite the European road map for trade, which would operate along the lines of a cooperative, or something akin to a gentleman's agreement on trade. The problem with EU trade deals is they haven't been equitable, and too much one sided. If Italy or others see some virtue in Brexit, the UK could facilitate a viable option for those countries. A UK model for trade where all partners are treated as equals would sort out the Euro nonsense that's plagued the Union for decades. The UK has an amazing opportunity to set the trend in Europe, and could provide a hub for Euro/American contracts.
