  1. Pets pail in comparison to kids in costs. The day to day costs of having a pet is more than just food. My brother spent at least $24 thousand on vet costs for his dog only to have it eventually put down. Kids have thousands of dollars in hidden costs. These include running them around, school and university fees and excursions. I hope that when people abandon cats that they put them in a hessian bag with a rock in the nearest waterhole rather than let them become ferule. I hate cats. The only good cat is a dead one.
