“The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers — loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
“Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on YouTube. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”
But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news — the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.
“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on YouTube, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do — even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks — who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago — the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king — the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”
And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”
It’s probably for the best — the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all — class issues,” he said on a recent episode. “That Raytheon decided they don’t hate gays or trans people — frankly, I don’t really give a shit what their take on that is…”

Capitalism and Money will save us all because that is the main event that takes it all Between Both Countries we share a common wealth of Prosperity . So the Question is who would want to though it all away ?
It will happen eventually, with authoritarian government's on the rising and the fragile egos and pettiness of those egomaniacs being voted in and the ones who have been there for a long time and getting senile, plus the growing ignorance, just give it time. It will be a close race between that or climate change or a mix of them.
If humanity is stupid enough to blow itself up over some random patch of land in the middle of nowhere, so be it. We had coming for a long time already.
Idk overthrow a country with a violent color revolution, their government bombed people in their own country for 8 years, then their next door neighbor finally responded, and we still continue the war, what do you think would happen. God damn kyle is so wrong about one thing…. Please look up the Rs28. Ps we are still in 1/3 of syria.
We might as well just lie to ourselves about safety, honestly. We have zero control over the sick, horrible fucks who have the launch codes. We really only still exist because they haven't slaughtered us. What else do we have but to convince ourselves of whatever we want? We let them have too much power for us to stop it. Now, I won't lie to myself about it, but I can see how other people are doing it. Looks nice, y'know? I'd like a little inner peace.
Good. Human civilization is fucked anyways, let's go out with a bang and make a show of it.
Honestly I don’t care at this point. Maybe it will be a good think that humanity goes extinct per nuclear oblivion because other species will have a chance at least and we can no longer exacerbate climate change. Once the nukes go off, I’m getting a chair from my apartment, lighting up one last blunt, get some binoculars and going to watch the show. We had so much potential as a species but I say, let the rats have a shot at this! Maybe they’ll do better and make it off this fucking rock.
Remember Kyle said: You are objectively wrong if you like fall and you should be ashamed of yourself.
It's America that's created the tensions with Russia and China.. If they repeatedly say what their red lines are and the US responds by crossing those lines. The fault squarely lies with America.
And to call them Authoritarian regimes is deeply offensive. Why call them that when their voters & citizens give them 70-90% approval ratings. That's Harvard providing that statistic btw.
Just because they don't emulate the Wests broken corrupt democracy doesn't make them automatically bad.
It will happen one day, crazy people like Putin or Kim Jong Un would press that button.
Well, until it happens, I'm just going to keep doing my thang.
If a lefty like Bernie ever wins I hope they go hard on nuclear disarmament. No military conflict of nations should start with destroying like as we know it globally.
What did you expect from a genuinely evil species?
we heard this crap before…often
not buying it
the consequences of going nuclear, aka your own destruction are just to grave
but i fully believe nukes will never go away: a country without nukes is fucked, Russia demonstrated this more than anything else
Great day to be a human.
metal gear?! a nuclear equipped, walking battle tank!!
As someone who grew up right at the end of the Cold War… yeah, sounds about right; can I get a refill for my coffee?
The government better fucking show the world what it knows about UAP before this happens…
Oh that’s nice. I get to enjoy the sight of several metric ton nukes flying overhead while baking alive while on the street.
There's no profit in nuclear war.
Worst best man speech ever.
I'm all for it. It's the best way to go.
OMG WHYYYYYYYYY I HATE THIS
i feel like we’ve been one step away for years now
Well thanks for telling ME that "U.N." What the hell do you want ME to do about it? I'Mmmm NOT the one in CHARGE. I'm NOT the one pulling the shit that IS bringing the world closer, I'm not the sooooo "highly" educated, soooo highly paid ones that ARE in charge. In fact, aren't you, the U.N. SUPPOSED to be around to AVOID being, "one step" away, aren't YOU…SUPPOSED to be in…charge? greeeaaaattt job there, hope you got paid verrrrryyy welll and your BUNKER is very deeeep.
What's the matter Kyle? Afraid of getting your skin melted off?
The ghost of Teller haunts us all.
I believe U.S. helped pakistan develop nuclear program. Now they are regretting it, since Pakistan provides safe heavens for terrorist & U.S. not able to say much to attack Pakistan because of their nuclear program that US helped built.
If humanity has to end can it end in an instant so we don’t have to suffer? I hate having to look at my country decay every single day in America.
I don't care. Life isn't worth living anyway. Bring on the nukes.
A good time to provoke Russia and China
"stocks rallied as geopolitical tensions ease " wensday aug 3rd LOLOL what a joke
Sounds like we need to drop a giant squid.
What do you mean Kyle? We need to have a nuclear war to save Ukraine and Taiwan. It only makes sense.
"lager countries invading smaller countries like China & Taiwan" … so, kyle is not a smart man.
The folks in Japan should be listened to by all the world. They know better than anyone how this can go. Thank the gods they've forgiven us, but I almost think that's a part of it. Once your culture has seen that level of destruction, it has to put things in perspective a great deal.
I wouldn't completely discount N. Korea. Anytime 1 person can single-handedly launch nucs there is an inherent world wide risk.
Kyle, first of all, nuclear non-proliferation is a bad joke! The United States has the ability and the proven willingness to kill anyone we want to kill, anywhere we want in the world. We ae the only country to have ever used nuclear weapons on another country and their civilian population – TWICE! What gives us the right to tell other countries whether or not they can manufacture nuclear weapons and delivery systems. North Korea, who we are technically still at WAR with, is under NO obligation to stop their nuclear weapons program, and neither is Iran nor any other nation we don't like! It's kind of like the 2nd amendment right in the US to keep and bear arms – after all, nuclear bombs don't kill people – people do! Maybe the world would be a safer place if every country on earth had nuclear weapons! Hey, instead of drawing the line for arming Americans at military assault weapons, maybe we should let individuals have nukes – just tactical ones though! Let's see, what would I do with mine?
I don’t agree with their points or your points for the top reasons. I see famine in nuclear nations like Pakistan, being met with no compassion from the other nations of the world, leading to it.
Even nuclear waste material.
You mix that with an incendiary device,
You've still got a dirty bomb
Nuke each other but leave australia out of it.
Then maybe NATO should disband and end this bullshit
Can we please impeach nancy pelosi for this shit? She literally thrust us into this fucking crisis with china because she wanted to do her own thing.
Single-celled organisms ruled the earth for 3 billion years …Dinosaurs ruled the earth for 165 million years … Humans ruled the earth for 300 thousand years … I wonder what will be next … after we are gone.
🤔If Russia or China BLEW up the world; they would have no one to sell goods to or clients to buy from and they would end up cutting their nose off to spite their face!🤨👃⛽🔥
I'm not worried nuclear war won't happen any time soon.
World has been one step from nuclear annihilation for 70 years.
There was one point in history (1983) where the world was literally one decision away from nuclear annihilation. Look up Stanislav Petrov.
