Vaccine effectiveness and longevity in UK

Impact of Delta on viral burden and vaccine effectiveness against new SARS-CoV-2 infections in the UK

N = 384,543

Households, 221,909

Obtaining two vaccine doses remains the most effective way to ensure protection against Delta

With Delta, Pfizer-BioNTech and Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines still offer good protection against new infections

but effectiveness is reduced compared with Alpha

However, Delta infections after two vaccine doses had similar peak levels of virus to those in unvaccinated people

(with the Alpha variant, peak virus levels in those infected post-vaccination were much lower)

Two doses of either vaccine still provided at least the same level of protection as having had COVID-19 through natural infection

People who had been vaccinated after already being infected with COVID-19 had even more protection than vaccinated individuals who had not had COVID-19 before

Two doses of Pfizer-BioNTech have greater initial effectiveness against new COVID-19 infections

but this declines faster compared with two doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca

After four to five months, effectiveness of these two vaccines similar

however, long-term effects need to be studied

The time between doses does not affect effectiveness in preventing new infections

Younger people have even more protection from vaccination than older people

UK, third shots

We can’t just look at the antibody levels and think that that equates to levels of protection

It still seems that you get a lot of protection from these vaccines, even if the antibody levels have drifted down to some sort of stable level

  1. Surely, in the Popperian view of science, research has to be replicated in order to be accepted as a scientific truth! This is how Andrew Wakefield’s study which linked MMR vaccine with autism was found to be untrue. No one replicating the study has got the same results, but more importantly, all got similar results to each other in refuting the truth. This study also needs to be replicated and shown to stand up to scientific scrutiny before accepting it as a scientific fact. Presumably, that’s why the knee jerking response to the third vaccine is coming from politicians and not the scientists.

  2. Correction…..vaccines do not provide immunity to Covid-19!!! Please get your facts right. Can I also respectfully ask your views on the science behind mass vaccination in the midst of a pandemic?
Is it realistic and scientifically valid to suggest we can vaccinated ourselves out of this pandemic?

  3. 5:55 How can anyone in their right mind still think they have protection against getting and transmitting when they have the same viral load as unvaccinated!? Only natural immunity gives you real protection against spreading the disease.

  4. I am sk sujauddin from India. Actually I am suadi racident, now I am live in india.I take one dose Pfizer vaccine in saudi arabia but now I wanna 2nd dose but in india I don't get Pfizer that's why I wanna Covishield,is it any reaction from vaccine please give me advice It's very important  to know this information.

  5. Its very hard to trust numbers, at least in the US, when hospitals are paid for each case they report and they count deaths as related to CV19 if it is detected. Notice the flu rates have disappeared, total death rates have not changed much at all. It is a real disease, it is dangerous. I got the vaccine and it didn't hurt me so far, 3 months on, Pfizer. I've never had the disease, I know of people that have had it and people that have died. I just don't think we are getting the whole truth from our governments. It doesn't help that Fauci admitted he lied to us. Governments need to have faith in their people and be transparent and the people will trust.
Stay safe, get some sun and exercise if you can, eat healthy (whatever that means to you), and look out for each other. 🙂

  6. Why so sad for NZ ? Unless your medical and virology degree came from Noddy it was inevitable . My take on the Oxford study is not so positive , what it says is that as the virus mutates the efficacy of all vaccines wain , fast forward 6 months from now as we hit the Echo , foxtrot et al mutations the vax will be less and less effective . The only immunity that seems to be holding it’s own is natural immunity yet you can’t get a vaccine passport with natural immunity, Politics again.

  7. If viral loads are the same between the vaccinated and unvaccinated isn't the vaccinated population posing the greatest threat? An unvaccinated person will be more symptomatic, more debilitated and more likely to isolate, thus shielding their viral load. The vaccinated person will have less severe symptoms or non, thus continuing to shed the virus in public.

  8. John why the sad tone and pessimism when reporting on Australia & NZ have you seen the deaths compared to the UK? We are doing just fine despite a government that keeps its citizens locked down and a desire to go against evolution and risk the young through vaccination in an attempt to save the old and sick.

  9. Is there anybody that is having a disease that want to get rid of it contact Dr ado on YouTube who cured my disease which I'll rather be private about

  10. Interested and fascinating article on optimisim.

One thing trying to get my head around.

    2 jab
    Other caught covid
And better caught covid and 2 jabs.

If you had 2 jabs and family member got covid.

In same house and I believe exposed to infected person me partner fine.

Therefore is it 2 jabs and infected helps protection

What about 2 jabs and exposed to covid but didn't get infected does the exposure help but not ill.

Can anyone clarify or Dr Campbell

  11. A groundbreaking preprint paper by the prestigious Oxford University Clinical Research Group, published Aug. 10 in The Lancet, includes alarming findings devastating to the COVID vaccine rollout.

The study found vaccinated individuals carry 251 times the load of COVID-19 viruses in their nostrils compared to the unvaccinated.

While moderating the symptoms of infection, the jab allows vaccinated individuals to carry unusually high viral loads without becoming ill at first, potentially transforming them into presymptomatic superspreaders.

This phenomenon may be the source of the shocking post-vaccination surges in heavily vaccinated populations globally.

  12. Hi, I’m curious your thoughts on what Canada was planning and that was removing testing in general and just telling us to stay home when sick? They seem to be back tracking on this but it seems logical considering we need to live with this and go forward. Test if sick etc

  13. vaccines came out a year ago. vaccines are no causing people to spread the delta, it was never a high mortality anyway. vax the vunerable and let the rest of use live our lives!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. From the technical briefing 21 by Public Health England one can determine that for vaccinated people under 50y the infection fatality rate is 0.07% and for unvaccinated people under 50y the infection fatality rate in 0.04%.

  15. Ever wondered what COVID stands for? Certificate of vaccine identification proves it has been the plan from the start! This bloke is a shill if he was telling you the truth he would have been cancelled

  16. Lockdown on its way end of September ! This useless government is letting the restrictions back in gradually, starting with face masks for pupils being compulsory, then it will be all have to wear the mask again in indoors areas, then will come the tier system ! And finally will come the big L for lockdown !
Wasn’t it a worthwhile exercise taking away all restrictions for 2 months ! Lol 😂, just lol !!

  17. A vaccine is suppose to make you immune to a disease…. thats according to the definition of a vaccine…. a vaccinated person can infect others with covid

  18. I really want to believe in you doctor ! But don’t understand why even when you read studies that you have and when a scientist said that only 50 percent is what vaccines 💉 are working for fully vaccinated people, you keep sending people to get the vaccine. Why if you are a doctor and you know that vaccine immunity will fade soy with time you keep pushing something that you don’t have the truth . Do you have anything to said about Japan having 1.63 millions of vaccine from Moderna with heavy metals ? Do you have something to said about that . ! Thanks 🙏 I really want to believe but is too hard when you make no sense.

  19. Thanks John. I finally convinced myself, now is a good time to get vaccinated. I'm still a bit concerned about the long term effects. I mean, you are injecting yourself with part of the sars virus. My concern is that the side effects might be cumulative, but if the side effects of the complete virus itself is cumulative, we still should be safer with the vaccin.

    Anyway, Cheers!

  20. Why are you promoting vaccinations and ignoring your positive video from DR Tess Lawrie 5 months ago promoting ivermectin and doctors to use Helsinki declaration to be able to use Ivermectin to prevent, treat COVID-19! U.K. government still not listening!

  21. Not all sheep are in fields ! Baaaaa. How much do the lying politicians and scientists etc pay you to put this nonsense out while the sheep listen and are fooled by your propaganda. Trust figures and pharmasutical companies?, are you mad !!

  22. Astrazeneca not being used in the UK as a booster shot due to side effects. AZ says it is now producing vaccine for poor countries…I guess because they don’t have lawyers.
