We have a thing here called a reverse mortgage. Basically you stop paying, get your equity and when you die the bank gets the house and not your heirs. I've always thought that was weird. I get that some older people can't afford to pay but I'm not sure if it would be better to sell and move out or get a reverse mortgage l

There were two turning points in my family. One was an accident, the other malicious.
But the malice one is related, about 7 ish years ago, the council went on strike. And without being able to process paper work, my mum was left with the decision of waiting it out or selling the house. Of course the worst decision happened because my greedy brother and sister wanted the money from it. Money I never got, and will never accept. Since then, my mum has been renting and it is so much much worse.
This is way worse in the United States. People are pissed. On both sides, it’s just the left doesn’t realize their policies create it. They blame the billionaires. We need to get everybody on board because this is bullshit the ship is sinking fast and only takes a couple generations to completely change everything and wipe out history so no one even knows the difference
The problem is that most people running things believe in fantasies. You can just dream it and it will come true. These same people will quit as soon as anything gets a little bit hard.

There's plenty of homes. People just don't want to live in a wreck while they pick away at it. They also refuse to live out in the sticks and drive 45min to 1.5 hours into work, more with traffic. Most people in their first home range want 20 minutes from downtown, 20 minutes from the beach, 20 minutes from everything and won't accept anything short of it.

Nobody except for the government ministers have been able to own a house for decades now. You can't claim to own something, which the government can take away if you fail to pay taxes on the thing you 'supposedly' own.

The lack of DVD and Blue Ray releases of all this new stuff coming out.
It's not just a house that you won't own in the future, having a large collection of DVD and Blue Ray collection so you can watch what you want without having to worry about what companies own what in order to see in on x,y and z streaming channel.

If you don't own land or a house, you have nothing tying you to your geographic area. Therefore you don't care what happens there.

The rent we pay, we would be able to buy a house for £500,000. Can’t save deposit, so keep renting. Not too bothered though, have been through 2 recession, had to sell both times…it’s just not worth it anymore. Get a good life insurance to see your kids right and save them the hassle.
