I totally agree with your point Charlie; and journalism, as a whole, is going down the toilet. But I think an important distinction needs to be made between regular articles, and opinion articles. The first screenshot you show is an opinion piece in the WSJ. Pretty much anyone is allowed to write an opinion piece; hell, the NYT's opinion page is basically a shit-rag. But opinion pieces are not the same thing as regular articles.
